The Companions among Banī Sālim ibn ‘Awf, of the Khazraj Tribe

Among the most noble companions from Banū Sālim ibn ‘Awf are:

  • Jumay‘ b. Mas‘ūd b. ‘Amr b. Sālim b. ‘Awf – the companion who, having fallen ill, gave his entire fortune in charity.
  • ⁠Al-‘Abbās b. ‘Ubādah b. Nadla – he emigrated from Madinah to Makkah and was among the fighters of Uhud.
  • ⁠Mālik b. ‘Ajlān – his grandfather, leader of the Khazraj during the battle of Bu‘āth.
  • ⁠Mulayl b. Wabara – participant at Badr.
  • ⁠‘Usma b. Husayn b. Wabara – his nephew, also present at Badr.£
  • ⁠‘Itbān b. Mālik – companion who took part in Badr.
  • ⁠Abū Khaythama al-Ansārī.
  • ⁠Thābit b. al-Dahhāk – he took part in the oath of al-Ridwān.
  • ⁠‘Ubādah b. al-Sāmit.

The Pacts of Brotherhood (mu’ākhāt)

Due to their merits, bonds of brotherhood were established between them and certain Muhājirūn:

  • ‘Umar b. al-Khattāb with ‘Itbān b. Mâlik.
  • ⁠‘Uthmān b. Maz‘ūn with al-‘Abbās b. ‘Ubādah b. Nadla.
  • ⁠Abū Marsad al-Ghanawi with ‘Ubādah b. al-Sāmit.
